Why verify Kit emails

Creators grow on Kit through landing pages, lead magnets and recommendations from other newsletters. Free downloads in particular pull in throwaway addresses, and every one of them counts toward your subscriber tier.

    Add a tag such as email-invalid or email-risky. Broadcasts and sequences can exclude those tags.

    Unsubscribe invalid addresses

    For invalid verdicts, unsubscribe the subscriber, which removes them from your billed count.

    Measure lead magnet quality

    Write the form name and the verdict to a sheet. It shows which freebies attract real readers and which attract throwaway inboxes.

    Get your API key

    Create a key on the API keys page of your BounceIntel dashboard. Keys come with any paid plan and start with bi_live_.

    Start the Zap in Kit

    In Zapier, choose Kit as the trigger app and pick New Subscriber, or open a template above, which does this for you.

  3. 3

    Add Verify Email Address

    Add BounceIntel as the action, connect it with your key, and map the email field from Kit into the Email field.

  4. 4

    Act on the verdict

    Add a Filter on Safe to send, Paths on the verdict, or an update step that writes the verdict and score back to Kit.

The fields to map first. Every check also returns reason codes, a confidence level, the mail provider and the individual mailbox signals.

Kit and BounceIntel: common questions

Is Kit the same as ConvertKit?

Yes. ConvertKit renamed itself Kit, and the Zapier app carries the new name.

Should I still use Kit's double opt-in?

Yes, if it suits your audience. The two checks complement each other: verification removes addresses that could never confirm, before a confirmation email is wasted on them.

How many BounceIntel credits does this use?

One credit for each address checked. A Zap that runs 300 times a month uses 300 credits, and Zapier counts its own tasks separately.

Do I need a paid BounceIntel plan?

The Zap connects with an API key, and keys come with any paid plan, monthly or a one-off pack. The 100 free credits on signup can be used in the dashboard to test verdicts on your own addresses first.
